Job Title: Downtown Kelowna Concierge – Accepting only Summer Students for this position

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12am – 8pm and Saturday/Sunday/Stat Holidays 10am – 8pm

Wage: $17/hr

Start Date: June 20, 2022

End Date: September 5, 2022



Downtown Kelowna Concierge team members act as ambassadors for Downtown Kelowna. They are responsible for the promotion of Downtown businesses and activities, Meet Me on Bernard set up and tear down, tourist assistance, public space improvement/maintenance and more. Specific duties and responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Set-up / tear down tables and chairs for Meet Me on Bernard.
  • Maintain tables and chairs through the day including wiping down, ensuring set up is neat and returning chairs to tables if moved.
  • Working with City of Kelowna and Tourism Kelowna summer teams
  • Assist tourists and residents with any inquiries regarding shopping, dining, entertainment, accommodation, tourism activities and events (sports, cultural and/or tourism) in Downtown Kelowna
  • Assist tourists and residents with any general inquiries regarding Kelowna (directions, public washroom locations, etc.)
  • Assist in coordination of on-street games and displays within the Meet Me on Bernard initiative
  • Visit Downtown businesses on a regular basis to share information on Downtown Kelowna happenings
  • Assist with producing a weekly YouTube video featuring Downtown Kelowna and the shopping, dining, entertainment, events, and culture it boasts
  • Provide information and directions for Downtown Kelowna
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Team Lead or Executive Director as required.

The Concierge is part of the main On-Street Team for the Meet Me on Bernard closure in July and August. 4 blocks of Downtown will be animated with a pedestrian walkway on the street which will be closed to traffic. Working closely with our City of Kelowna and Tourism Kelowna partners, the Downtown Kelowna Concierges will be the face of Downtown for the summer. In addition, the Concierges will provide tourists information on shopping, dining, and accommodation to visitors.

As this is a Canada Summer Job program, Participants must meet the following criteria;

  1. You are between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  2. You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  3. You are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations

Please note: International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
